In order to use an Antelope Audio device as intended and to prevent unpredictable behaviour, you should make sure that you are running the most recent version of its software.
The essential device specific Antelope Audio software consists of three main components:
- Firmware (containing information about effects and the internal operations of the device in general)
- Control panel (the software control panel where you can adjust your routing settings etc.)
- Driver (the USB driver for Windows users)
Those three components are bundled together to form the so called Bundle version. If you are a Mac OS user, only the firmware and the device's control panel will be included in the Bundle version, since all Antelope Audio devices will use the same driver - namely the Antelope Unified driver.
*Note: The Bundle version as well as all components that are contained in it have separate number identifiers. For example, you might be running Bundle Version 2.0.0, which contains Control Panel 1.0.1, Firmware 1.0.2 and Driver 5.0.1. Not all of the components have to be different for different Bundle Versions.
Software installation
If you are a new user, upon successful installation of your device, you will get the following message:
Click "Finish". You have completed the installation process.
Firmware failed to install
In some ases you might get the message that the firmware installation failed. This might be due to an actual failure of the installation or due to a visual glitch of the Antelope Launcher. To check which one of those is true, take a look at your device's screen. If "LOADER: Primary Boot" or "LOADER: Golden Boot" is being displayed on the screen, then the firmware installation has not been successful and you should give it another try or/and contact Technical Support. If however, the device's display is not showing anything out of the ordinary, then the message was due to the visual glitch.
Checking the Bundle Version's contents
You can check which version of the device's software you are currently running by going to "Manage device" -> "Software & Firmware":
The "Currently Installed" section contains the control panel (CP), firmware (FW) and driver (DRV) versions that are currently installed on your device and computer.
The "Currently Selected" section contains the control panel (CP), firmware (FW) and driver (DRV) versions that are a part of the Bundle Version that you have selected from the "Bundle Version" drop-down menu above..
If the components in both sections match and you have selected the latest Bundle Version from the drop-down menu, then your device is completely up to date.
If some of the components versions is listed as "0.00", then the component in question is not installed at all.
Downgrading your device's software
If, for some reason, you want to run an older version of one or more of the software components, you can do that by manually setting the regime of software updates to the desired one. The regime of software updates determines the conditions under which a software component can be installed on your computer/Antelope device.
There are three possible conditions for each component:
1. If newer - A component can be installed if and only if it's version is new relative to the version of the currently installed one.
2. Always - A component can be installed no matter whether it's version is old, new or the same as the version of the currently installed one.
3. Never - A component cannot be installed.
So, to downgrade some of the software components, you have to:
1. Open the Antelope Launcher and go to "Settings":
2. Go to "Advanced":
3. Set the status of the component that you want to downgrade to "Always" and the status of all other components to "Never" or "If newer".
4. Hit "Apply".
5. Navigate back to "Manage device" -> "Software & Firmware" and select a Bundle Version that contains the component that you want to downgrade and hit "Install".
