With the release of Windows Thunderbolt driver version 1.55 we announce compatibility with Thunderbolt 4 on Windows 10/11.
We have tested and confirmed that Antelope Audio devices with Thunderbolt 3 ports are compatible with the following Thunderbolt 4 configuration:
· Asrock Z590 Taichi w/ 11th generation Intel Core i7-11700K 3.6GHz
· ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-Plus WiFi motherboard + ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 expansion card
We have received reports from customers that are running successfully Thunderbolt 3 devices on the following Thunderbolt 4 configurations:
· Asus Z690 Hero motherboard
· MSI Meg Ace, Model 7D27 w/ 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700KF
· AMD B550 Ryzen AM4 ATX
· ASUS ProArt B550-Creator
Please, note that compatibility issues may still occur due to the vast variety of configurations available on the market.
IMPORTANT:
· Thunderbolt 2 devices (Orion 32+, Orion 32+ Gen 3, Orion Studio, Orion Studio rev.2017, Discrete 4/8, Discrete 4/8 Synergy Core, Zen Tour) are not compatible with Thunderbolt 4 on Windows.
Driver limitations:
· Only ASIO standard is supported. Windows Audio requires a 3rd party software like Voicemeeter.
· Only one Antelope device at a time is supported
System requirements
· Windows 10/11 PC supporting Thunderbolt™ 3/4
· Apple certified Thunderbolt 3/4 cable
Tips:
- Disable the CPU Core parking if available
- “Thunderbolt™ Security” or ” Thunderbolt™ Authentication” should be set to “None” or “User” depending on the motherboard.
- Thunderbolt™ PCI support should be enabled.
- USB power-saving features might prevent Thunderbolt™ from working, so it's preferable to be disabled.
- Disable the “Power Throttling” feature of Windows from registry (requires restart). Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power. Create a new Key
“PowerThrottling” if not present, and a new DWORD value “PowerThrottlingOff” under the key, then set the value to “1”. Restart the computer.
- You can tune the driver from the Thunderbolt™ ASIO Settings control panel. Either open it from your DAW, or navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Antelope Audio\Thunderbolt\AntelopeAudioSettings.exe Use the Streaming mode slider to fine-tune the latency. Please note that the lowest achievable latency values depend on the computer configuration, as the Antelope driver is sensitive to Interrupt, DPC and scheduling latencies – these can vary depending on the hardware and installed third-party drivers and applications.
Troubleshooting:
1. If the Intel Thunderbolt Control Center cannot discover the device, please try the following:
• Check to see if your BIOS configuration has Thunderbolt enabled;
• Try disabling any USB power-saving features in your BIOS;
• If using and Add-in Card, check to see it’s installed on the correct slot (some motherboards / AICs can only work on certain PCIe slots, check with your motherboard and AIC manufacturer for mor information);
• Update your BIOS to the latest version (you might need to unplug your computer from the power for 30 seconds). Check with your motherboard manufacturer for information on how to update your BIOS;
• Update the Thunderbolt controller firmware (you might need to unplug your computer from the power for 30 seconds). Check with your motherboard and AIC manufacturer for information on where to get the updates;
• Update the Intel Management Engine driver;
• Try switching cables or adapters.
2. If the device is recognized by the Intel Thunderbolt Control Center, but does not appear in Device Manager, allow the device to connect from the Intel Thunderbolt Control Center
