Daisy chaining Antelope Audio devices via digital connections
There are a few ways in which you can expand your I/O count using multiple devices.
Mac OS
Mac users can create an aggregated device with multiple devices connected to different ports. To do that you need to go to "Audio MIDI Setup" and add an "Aggregated Device" with the "+" at the bottom, selecting the units you would like to use. This way you won't need to have a BNC connection between the devices.
ADAT
ADAT connection can be used to add up to 8 channels on 44.1 / 48kHz sample rate or 4 channels on 96kHz. The audio interfaces retain their routing settings when disconnected.
HDX
An HDX card will be needed to be able to use this feature. Our HDX interfaces can be used simultaneously on two computers - one to record USB or Thunderbolt and on the other computer recording the HDX signal. Multiple devices can be linked up via HDX.
MADI
Up to 64 channels with 44.1 / 48kHz or 32 channels 96kHz can be passed through a MADI connection. Our devices run an optical MADI connection.
AES
AES can carry an additional 2 channels.
S/PDIF
S/PDIF can carry an additional 2 channels.
DANTE (only on Galaxy 32 and 64)
Up to 64 channels 44.1 / 48kHz or 32 channels 96kHz can be connected via Dante connection. We have a Primary and Secondary ports on both units
Note*
- You can use our devices as a standalone unit, which means that they will retain their routing set-up when you disconnect the USB or TB cable.
- All of our outputs run simultaneously so you can use the Routing Matrix freely without latency.
- You need to have both units clocked in master - slave configuration via BNC cable or the digital connection you are using. If they are not clocked, sample rate dropouts could occur.
