How may we help you?

The routing matrix includes two main sections.

'FROM' includes all physical and virtual INPUTS of your device.
'TO' includes all physical and virtual OUTPUTS of your device.

You can route the inputs "FROM", to the outputs "TO" by simply drag and drop the selected channels.

The 'COMP PLAY' section indicated in the picture below is the signal that comes out of your computer (YouTube, Spotify, DAW, etc.). You can select any two channels as your "Main Out". By default, the "Main Out" of your computer is set to channels "COMP PLAY 1 and 2.

'COMP REC' represents the signal that goes into your computer. Depending on the channels you route (for example channels 1-4 in pink. See picture below) will correspond to input channels 1-4 inside your DAW.
NOTE: 'COMP REC' will be called differently depending on your device. It could be also called 'TB REC' or 'USB REC'.

'AFX IN' is what is sent to the 'EFFECTS' section in the control panel.
'AFX OUT' is what comes out of the 'EFFECTS' section of the control panel.NOTE: All signals routed to 'AFX IN' will automatically come out from the 'AFX OUT' section at the same channel number.

There are four 'MIX CHANNELS' in the Control Panel. 'MIX CHANNELS' are designed so you can easily route multiple input signals into one Stereo bus. Let's say, you record a four-piece band and each musician needs a separate mix to listen to. You can easily create one using the "MIX CHANNELS". The Output of each "MIX CHANNEL" can be found in the "FROM" section (see picture below)

How To Record Without The AFX In The DAW (Monitor with AFX)

To record without the AFX (but only monitor the affected signal) please do the following routing :

I.      PREAMP —>  COMP/TB/USB RECORD   (This allows you to record inside your DAW)

II.     PREAMP —> AFX In —> AFX Out —> MIX CH 1 —> MIX 1 L/R —> MONITOR
                                   COMP PLAY 1, 2 —>  MIX CH 1 —> MIX 1 L/R —> MONITOR

In the above signal flow 'PREAMP' will go into the 'EFFECTS' section, then it will automatically go out from 'AFX OUT'.

The effected signal from 'AFX OUT'  needs to be routed to one of the four MIX CHANNELS -

MIX CH 1, 2, 3, or 4. This way all affected channels will be sent to playback straight away.
All signals that go to the MIX CHANNELS are automatically summed at the corresponding MIX L/R sections.

You need to route 'COMPUTER PLAY 1, 2' to 'MIX CH1' as well since this is the MAIN OUT from the DAW. This way you will have both the affected channels + the MAIN OUT from the DAW going to 'MIX CH 1', which, as already described is automatically summed in the 'MIX L/R' sections. This is done so that the MAIN OUT of the DAW is also monitored without further routing in the matrix. 'MIX L/R'  is then routed to 'MONITOR' or 'HP1', 'HP2'.  All that is left to do is mute channels in the DAW when recording and unmute when listening back.

How To Record With The AFX In The DAW With Zero Latency Monitoring

To record the AFX inside your DAW:

I.  PREAMP  —> AFX IN —> AFX OUT  —>  COMP/TB/USB RECORD

II.  AFX OUT  —>  MIX CH 1,2,3,4 —> MIX L/R, 1,2,3,4 —>  MONITOR

III.  COMP PLAY 1, 2 —>  MIX CH 1,2,3,4 —> MIX L/R, 1,2,3,4 —>  MONITOR

In this signal flow, the 'PREAMP' will go into the 'EFFECTS' section, then it will automatically go out from 'AFX OUT'. Then the affected signal from 'AFX OUT'  needs to be routed to 'COMP/TB/USB RECORD' so it could be sent to the DAW. 'AFX OUT' is also sent to one of the four MIX CHANNELS to be monitored with zero latency from the Antelope device and not the DAW. Everything that goes to the 'MIX CHANNELS' is automatically summed at the corresponding 'MIX L/R' sections. Then this signal is routed to the 'MONITOR' section. 'COMP PLAY 1, 2' is routed to 'MIX CH1 as well, since this is the MAIN OUT from the DAW and this would allow to monitor it without further routing. All that is left to do is mute the channels in the DAW when recording (so that we monitor with zero latency from the device) and unmute when listening back.
